Sprawled at the foot of Monte Cuccu, the archaeological park is set amidst cork tree and holm oak woodlands, while all around are vistas of mountains dropping sheer into the sea. The site includes the three-towered Appiu nuraghe, a village of some 200 stone huts, a single-tower nuraghe, a giant's grave (the local name for communal megalithic graves) and two dolmens. Nearby are a megalithic stone circle and a 'megaron' temple. The site has yielded rich finds, including jars, grinding stones, flint and obsidian sharpening stones, mortars, small bronze scythes, askos jugs, pots and loom weights, evidence of the use of some huts for food storage and of various other activities: pottery firing, wool spinning and weaving, and wheat grinding.

From Alghero take SS 292 to Villanova Monteleone. After driving through the village, continue along SP 12 heading for Bosa. After about 10 km, turn into the narrow road leading to Monte Cuccu and continue for another 2 km until you reach the site.
