Besides the crystalline waters that lap its beaches and bluffs, in a fair part guarded by Aragonese towers like those of Porto Giunco and of San Luigi, the Sarrabus is covered by dense vegetation in which the perfumes of strawberry tree, lentisk, myrtle, holm oak, and oaks are mixed together producing intense fragrances. This happens especially in the Park of Sette Fratelli or in the mountain forests of Villaputzu, in whose surroundings also stand the calcareous mines of Gibbas and S’Acqua Arrubia: the area of the Sarrabus, with its deposits, belongs to the important Sardinia Geo-mining Park. The silver mines of Monte Narba were the turning point for San Vito, a town of agricultural vocation, but also for handicraft: in addition to a rich production of baskets, it boasts the manufacture of the launeddas, typical musical wind instrument composed of three reeds.
As regards the coasts, just considering the municipality of Villasimius boasts a coastal development of 35 kilometres in which small bays and enchanting beaches are alternated, such as Campulongu, Cala Usai, Porto Giunco, Simius, Punta Molentis, reached on foot and also enjoyable on horseback.
The treasures left by man over history amplify the beauty of its areas, such as the domus de janas found within the church of San Priamo in San Vito, along with the nuraghi of S’omu 'e s’Orcu in the plain Santa Giusta and that of Asoro near San Vito.
In the archaeological museum of Villasimius, among its four rooms, it is possible to admire finds coming from the excavations in the nuragic areas and from recoveries taken place at average and high depth, as the rich and interesting section devoted to the Phoenicians, in which a reconstruction of the culture and the uses of this sea people is shown.
