Meilogu, the central and centre-south part of the ancient judiciary of Torres, is a particularly interesting territory from a rural viewpoint in as much as the traces of the strong agro-pastoral imprint, characterised by the presence of typical transhumance constructions, are added to examples of the various civilizations that have lived there since prehistory, as the numerous domuses de janas or the nuraghi testify. Among these latter, of particular interest for the beauty of the surrounding landscape, for the well preserved condition and the architectural abilities of the local populations, is the nuraghe of Santu Antine in the territory of Torralba, in the town of which the museum of the Valley of the Nuraghi is found.
In addition, it is essential to not overlook the Romanesque architecture of the abbey of San Pietro di Sorres in the territory of the municipality of Borutta, erected between the 9th and the 12th centuries, with the nearby Benedictine convent in which, among their other occupations, the monks cultivated officinal plants and dedicated themselves to the restoration of ancient volumes.
The territory also gives its name to the golden coloured wine Vermentino, that accompanies - in the variety that reaches 12% vol. – seafood – with the more alcoholic (14% vol.) variety ideal to accompany typical sweets made with almonds.
