Memories from below the ground Since the most remote times, Sardinia has attracted merchants and shipmen from all over the Mediterranean, wanting to take possession of our rich mines in a land described by the Greeks as having silver in its veins, "Argyrophleps nesos".
MasuaThe mining concession was given to the “Società di Montesanto” in 1859. Its progressive growth saw the construction of other buildings that were essential to the working.
MonteponiThe large lead, zinc and silver metal mine was for a long time one of the most important productive mines in Italy, and is still today one of the most characteristic mining establishments in Sardinia.
NebidaActive since the second half of the 1800’s, the mining concession encouraged the founding of a village that still today preserves original traces in the main square which houses the infirmary.
