Fresh fruits
A land of ancient farming tradition, in Sardinia you can find all the vegetables and numerous fruit trees of the Mediterranean climates.
Almonds Almonds
Almonds are sweet and rich in unsaturated fats; it has a high quantity of magnesium and vegetable proteins. In Sardinia there are some famous areas for the production of almonds, among which Baressa, a small area of Oristano.
ArtichokesArtichokes
Artichoke is a vegetable that belongs to the composite family, known as far back as the Greek and Egyptian times; it is a plant that can grow up to one metre tall.
Asparagus
Asparagus belong to the family of the lilies. The plant is grass, made up of small leaves and yellow flowers. The Sardinian asparagus are very thin, a dark green vegetable.
Broad beans
Broad beans, they are classified with the name "vicia faba"; they grow on annual plant and produce white flowers. They belong to the leguminous family. Broad beans can be eaten both fresh and dried.
Camona tomatoes
Camona tomatoes, a high quality tomato, they have a spherical form and are small. They are an intense red colour with some characteristic green striations. The are very crispy and tasty.
Bortigiadas, cardoon's flowersCardoons
Cardoon is a winter vegetable similar to celery, but it belongs to the artichokes family. The edible part of the cardoon is the stem that has a similar taste to artichokes; it vaguely reminds you of celery.

Cherries are the fruit of a tree from the rosaceous family. There are two types of trees, the "Prunus avium", or sweet cherry and the "Prunus cerasus", or sour cherry. In Sardinia there are different areas where cherries are cultivated.

Chestnuts are a particular fruit, as they are rich of complex carbohydrates and cereals. Starch is a main component of chestnuts. Once crushed, the starch turns into simple sugars that have a particular and pleasant taste.

Figs are the fruit of a native plant from the Middle East, the "Ficus Carica." Known since antiquity they were enjoyed by the Greeks and the Romans.

Oranges are round and particularly juicy fruit, made up of perfect segments. There are many different types. The “blonde (moro, tarocco and sanguinelle)” and Navel ideal for squeezing.
